The historic town of Stamford with its beautiful Georgian Architecture, boutique shops, and amazing Friday market are well worth a visit. Browse at your leisure, have a walk on the meadows and take in this charming market town. The local theatre scene is also thriving in and around Stamford with the Stamford Corn Exchange and Stamford Shakespeare Company at Tolthorpe Hall both putting on productions throughout the year. Whilst here take the time to visit the stunning Burghley house, the finest Elizabethan House in England. Burghley house is just a 5 minute drive away from the White Hart and they do guided tours of the house, or just spend a day walking through the gardens famously designed by Capability Brown.
Peterborough
In the other direction, but no less impressive is Peterborough Cathedral. With its classic Norman Architecture, the site dates back to 654 AD and is definitely worth a visit. Nearby also is the home of John Clare (1793 – 1864) one of England’s greatest poets and Flag Fen Archaeology Park, the bronze age causeway and nature reserve. Peterborough United or Posh’s home ground is nearby, come and see this League One team play, the glorious game.
Rutland
For those who love the great outdoors Rutland Water is well worth a visit with 4200 acres to explore through: cycling, watersports, country walks, trout fishing, sailing and birdwatching. The iconic Normanton Church, located on the banks of the man-made reservoir is worth visiting and on a hot sunny day, why not take a picnic and enjoy the British countryside at its best.
